-Let's say x is what we are looking for

- if 16 is 100% and x is 27% write down 16=100% and x=27%

-now that we have that..where left sides of both of them have the same units, and both of the right sides have the same units, we do something like this 16/x=+100%/27%

- last just solve the simple equation

16/x= 100/27

(16/x)*x=(100/27)*x

16= 3.7037037037*x to get x

16/3.7037037037=x

4.32=x or x=4.32

-now we have

27% of 16=4.32
