2l + 2w = 34 (l = 8) (Problem)
2 x 8 = 16 (Finding out the length)
16 + 2w = 34 (Problem with the length)
-16 -16 (Using the subtraction property of equality to isolate the variable)
2w = 18 (New problem)
/2 /2 (Using division property of equality)
w = 9. (Width is found)

9 x 8 = 72. The area is 72 squared feet.

34-(8x2)=18
18÷2=9
8x9=72
