If a seamstress needs to cut 15-inch pieces of ribbon from a roll of ribbon that is 9 feet in length, what is the greatest number of 15-inch pieces the seamstress can cut from 5 of these rolls of ribbon?

STEP 1:
Convert 9 feet to inches
1 foot = 12 inches

9 feet * 12 inches= 108 inches

STEP 2:
Divide total inches (108) by the size pieces needed (15 inches)

108 inches ÷ 15 inches= 7.2

ANSWER: The seamstress can cut a total of 7 fifteen-inch pieces. You have to round back down to 7 because the 0.2 is not enough to make another full piece.
