The solution is n = 7 and p = 2

Explanation:

We have

n= 2 p+3

and

n= 5+p

That is

2 p+3 = 5 + p

p = 5 - 3

p = 2

Substituting in n= 5+p

n = 5 + 2 = 7

So the solution is n = 7 and p = 2
