Egyptian gods were represented usually a combination of animal and human form. Animal forms were used to express the mood of diety. Certain moods represented certain animals such as if the goddess was angry she might portray itself as a lioness and whereas if gentle she might portray itself as a cat. With the human body and animal head, this convention was used to depict animal god. In contrary, in the case of Sphinx, the representation of king was portrayed with the animal body and human head.
