Answer: The expression in the parenthesis should be done first.
Here are the steps on how to solve it in order:
42 ÷ (12 ÷ 2)
Step 1:
42 ÷ (6) We divided 12 by 2 because it was in parenthesis.
Step 2:
42 ÷ 6 = 7
Now we divide 42 by 6 which is 7.
