5 1/3=3 2/3+ y
16/3=11/3 +y
16/3 - 11/3= 5/3
y=5/3
y= 1 2/3

5 1/3= 3 2/3+ y
Convert to improper fractions
((5*3)+1)/3= ((3*3)+2)/3 + y
16/3=11/3+y
Subtract both sides by 11/3
5/3=y
or
1 2/3=# yellow facric yards
