he is having a man vs self conflict on weather he should go and risk passing or stay home and be bored but pass

He's having an internal conflict or a man vs self conflict

One on hand he wants to be accepted because it would mean to him. On the other hand, he has to pass the test which would mean not going to the party. He has two conflicting desires and he needs to make a decision on which desire he wants to fulfill knowing that the other desire would suffer in return.
