Mason opens a savings account by making a $165.85 deposit. Every week, he deposits another $20.50 in the account.

Write an expression that shows the amount of money that will be in the account x weeks after Mason opens it.
165.85x + 20.5
165.85 – 20.5x
165.85 + 20.5 + x
165.85 + 20.5x

165.85 is priliminary deposit i.e fixed and first deposit so it will become y intercept of our expression

20.5 is rate of change as he adds it once every week.

So the expression is

  • 165.85+20.5x

The answer should be D. 165.85+20.5x. This is because 165.85 is what he first deposited. 20.5 is what he deposits each week . x is the amount of weeks he’s deposited. whatever amount of weeks , you would multiply it with 20.5 and then add that amount to the amount he already had which was 165.85
