respiration is a process by which cells get energy from glucose and oxygen. during the respiration glucose reacts with oxygen to release water, ATP and and carbon dioxide as the products according to the following reaction

C6H12O6+6O2→6CO2+6H2O+ATP

mass of oxygen is conserved because the number of oxygen on the reactants side equals to the number of oxygen on the products side as shown in the above reaction.
