If the science teacher spent $65.50 on materials for the Mousetrap Car event, to find the unit cost per student you must divide the total cost by the number of students.
$65.50 ÷ 12 = 5.458 rounded to the nearest hundredth, it is C. $5.46

You want the unit cost __per__ student.
That means divide the cost by the number of students.
$65.50/12 = $5.46
Answer: C. $5.46
