What is the difference (9*10^10)-(4^10^10) in scientific notation

If you meant: (9 x 10^10) - (4 x 10^10) then follow below.

Since the base and exponent are the same in both scientific numbers, you can just subtract the coefficients and multiply times that common base raised to the exponent: Looks like this:


(9 - 4) x 10^(10)


5 x 10^(10)

9*10^10 - 4*10^10 = 5*10^10
All you have to do is subtract 4 from 9, since the powers are the same
