Let the number of T-shirts school must sell before breaking even = 'x'

To break even means that,

Income earned by the school = Cost paid by the school (Equation 1)

First we will calculate the income earned by the school,

= $12 * x

= $ 12x

Now, we will calculate the cost paid by the school

= $
(6000 + 4 * x)

= $(6000+4x)

Now, using equation 1

We get,

12x = 6000 + 4x

12x - 4x = 6000

8x = 6000

x = (6000)/(8)

= 750

Therefore, the school must sell 750 T-shirts before breaking even.
