Antihistamines reduce histamines thus stopping allergic symptoms. Basophils are the least type of White Blood Cell with 1 to 2 percent leukocytes in the bloodstream. They possess receptors binding an antibody to trigger allergic reaction. The mast cells release histamine when the antibody encounter a triggering substance thus Antihistamines work best on this type of WBC.
