if it is marked down by 30%, then u r actually paying 70%
70% of 53....turn ur percent to a decimal..." of " means multiply..
0.70(53) = 37.10 <===

or u could also do it this way..
53 - 0.30(53) = 53 - 15.90 = 37.10 <==

The simplest way to do this is to multiply the cost of the sweater by what it would be after the discount.

If the store is 30% off, then every item will be 70% of its original price.

Since the sweater is $53, 53*.70=$37.1
