The first thing to do is turn the mixed numbers into improper fractions. To do that you will multiply the denominator by the whole number and add the numerator.
3 1/2 = 7/2
2 2/3 = 8/3
Now one of the ways I do it is by using cancellation and in my opinion it's easier.
For example, in this equation 2 can go into 2 one time and 2 can go into 8 four times.

-- x -- = --- x --- = 28/3
2 3 1 3
If you want to turn 28/3 into a mixed number, all you do is divide the numerator by the denominator.
