Consider an electrical circuit which has three 50.0- resistors connected in parallel with each other. The current supplied to the circuit comes from a 24.0-V battery.

a. Calculate the equivalent resistance for the circuit.

Answer:

R = 50 Ω / 3 = 16.7 (or 1/R = 1 / R1 + 1 / R2 + 1 / R3)

i1 = 24.0 = 50 = .48 amps thru each branch

I = i1 + i2 + i3 = 3 * .48 = 1.44 total current

Note (24.0 / 16.7 = 1.44 amps)
