2x-2/8-3x/5 =55/4 distributive property of multiplication over subtraction
(10x-3x)/5-1/4=55/4 combining like terms
7x/5-1/4+1/4=55/4+1/4 addition propriety of equality
7x/5=56/4 add fractions
X=5•56/7•4=280/28=10
