Answer:

x = 2

Explanation:

the equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y-intercept )

here m = -
(7)/(2) and c = 12

y = -
(7)/(2) x + 12 ← equation in slope-intercept form

given (x, 5) lies on the line, solve for x by letting y = 5

-
(7)/(2) x +12 = 5

multiply all terms by 2 to eliminate the fraction

- 7x + 24 = 10 ( subtract 24 from both sides )

- 7x = - 14 ( divide both sides by - 7 )

x = 2
