x=9

Explanation:

2x+3y =36

We know y =6, so we can substitute this into the equation

2x+ 3(6) = 36

2x+18 = 36

Subtract 18 from each side

2x+18-18 = 36-18

2x =18

Divide each side by 2

2x/2 =18/2

x=9
