Will someone please explain this to me? I'm not looking for an answer, just an explaination.The quotient of a number and 2 is the same as the difference of the number doubled and 3. What is the number?

let the number be n then


(n)/(2) = 2n - 3 ( myltiply both sides by 2 )

n = 4n - 6 ( subtract 4n from both sides )

- 3n = - 6 ( divide both sides by - 3 )

n = 2

check


(2)/(2) = 1 and (2 × 2 ) - 3 = 4 - 3 =1
