We can use ratio's to solve this problem

4 cm = 5 km

We need to know how many cm = 10 km

4 cm x cm

---------- = --------------

5 km 10 km

Using cross products

4* 10 = 5* x

40 = 5x

Divide each side by 5

40/5 = 5x/5

8=x

On the map it is 8 cm.
