the ratio will be 17:18
but the total ratio will be 35 which will be attained by adding 17 and 15.
total number of students is 140.which means that 140 will be equivalent to 35.
if 140=35 what about 18
so it will be 140 *18 divided by 35
the number of girls will be 72.

Answer:

72 girls

Explanation:

If a class has 17 boys and 18 girls, the total number of students in the class is

17+ 18 = 35

the ratio of girls to students is 18/35

Using the same ratio of girls to students

18 x

----- = ----------

35 140

We can solve this using cross products

18*140 = 35x

2520=35x

Divide each side by 35

2520/35 = 35x/35

72 =x

There are 72 girls
