Since they have the same variable, you can add them together to simplify (combining like terms)

14t+3t=17t

Another example would be this:

Simplify 3x + 5t +6x + 2t^2

Both 3x and 6x have x, so you can simplify to

9x + 5t + 2t^2

You CANNOT combine 5t and 2t^2 because one is raised to the second power while the other is not
