I find using a graphing calculator the easiest way to solve a system by graphing.

Each of these equations is in slope-intercept form, so graphing can be done by locating the intercept point (y=-2, y=1, for the two equations), then plotting a line through that point with the appropriate slope. Of course, the slope is the x-coefficient, and represents the "rise" for a unit of "run" to the right. Here, both lines go down to the right.
