Answer: 600MW

First and foremost, we have to calculate the rate of heat that is supposed to the power plant. This will be:

= 600 / 50%

= 600 / 0.5

= 1200 MW

The rate of heat transfer to the river water will then be:

= 1200 - 600

= 600MW
