I think that they should definitely consider many different solutions, weighing and comparing the pros and cons, including those of isolationist policies. In the end, I think it should be up to relevant experts to determine whether or not isolationist policies are the best strategy.

The United States should not be considering isolationist policies during a pandemic. Isolationism would lead to more death and suffering, both in the United States and around the world. Pandemics are best fought by working together, and isolationism would prevent the United States from being able to effectively fight the disease.
