HELP PLEASE!!!

Hooke's Law for an elastic spring states
that the distance a spring stretches varies
directly as the force applied. If a force of
100 newtons stretches a spring 5 cm, how
much will a force of 360 newtons stretch
the same spring?
Distance of Stretch = [?] cm

Answer:

The answer is 18 cm

Explanation:

Given;

  • A force of 100 newtons stretches a spring 5 cm

To Find;

  • If a force of 360 newtons then how much a spring will be stretches

Now, We need to write a proportion

Here,

Force₁ = 100 N

Length₁ = 5 cm

Force₂ = 360 N

Length₂ = x cm

Now,

Force₁ ÷ Length₁ = Force₂ ÷ Length₂

100/5 = 360/x

100x = 360 × 5

100x/100 = 360 × 5/100

x = 18 cm

Thus, If a force of 360 newtons then 18 cm a spring will be stretches.
