Harriet Tubman was one of the Underground Railroad's conductors.

Afraid of being sold by the free black man she had married, Tubman ran away to Philadelphia. She found work and saved money to return to Maryland and rescue her sister and her sister's two children.

Since then, she made 19 more trips into the South and rescued over 300 slaves.
