Answer:

Hence, he needs to buy 3/4 pounds of coffee.

Explanation:

It is given that:

A person is at the store to buy
1(1)/(2) pounds i.e. 3/2 pounds of coffee.

He has already put in his cart 3/4 pounds of coffee.

Now we are asked to find what extra amount he needs to buy.

The extra amount is calculated as:

The amount he has to buy-The amount he has put in his cart.

=(3)/(2)-(3)/(4)\\\\=(6-3)/(4)\\\\=(3)/(4)\ pounds

Hence, he need to buy 3/4 pounds of coffee.
