Area of a triangle 1/2 * base * height.

If the base is x inches the height is x +3 inches.

So, here we have

90 = 1/2 * x * (x + 3)

x(x + 3) = 180

x^2 + 3x - 180 = 0

(x - 12)(x + 15) = 0

x = 12, -15 (we ignore the negative)

So, the base = 12 ins and height = 12 + 3 = 15 ins .
