For lines to be parallel, they have to have the SAME slope.

The given line's slope is -2, so the parallel line's slope is also -2.

You will be using the equation:

y = mx + b

"m" is the slope, "b" is the y-intercept (the y value when x = 0)

Since you know the slope, you can plug it in.

y = mx + b

y = -2x + b

To find "b", you can plug in the point (-4, 3) into the equation.

y = -2x + b

3 = -2(-4) + b

3 = 8 + b

-5 = b

Your equation is:

y = -2x - 5

Your answer is B
