Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) and halons are ozone depleting substances. The origin of these pollutants are propellants, refrigerants and foam blowing agents. CFC’s are replaced by the less harmful hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs). CFC-12 is replaced with HFC-134a in air conditioners. Also MeBr a fumigant used in agriculture has been completely banned.

The two pollutants that destroys the ozone layer are CFC (Chlorofluorocarbons) and Methyl bromide. When the sun rays hit these molecules, they releases chlorine and bromine into the atmosphere. The chlorine and bromine reacts with the ozone present in the stratosphere and thus results in the depletion.

The origination of these pollutants are refrigerators, Air conditioners and aerosol cans.
