Hi there!

Here are the important information we know:

1 box = 35 beads = $1.60

Jody has 1,400 beads

1. You'll have to use the cross product method 2 times to find your first answer :

1 box = 35 beads

X box = 1,400 beads

(1 × 1,400) ÷ 35 = X box

1,400 ÷ 35 = X box

40 = X box

This means that Jody bought 40 boxes of beads in order to have a total of 1,400 beads.

1 box = $1.60

40 boxes = $X

(1.60 × 40) ÷ 1 = $X

64 ÷ 1 = $X

64 = $X

This means that in order to have a total of 1,400 beads, Jody had to pay $64.

2. To answer your second question, you'll need to divide the total amout of beads that Jody has (1,400) by the amout of beads she puts in each box (16):

1,400 ÷ 16 = X

87.5 = X

She can only put 16 beads in 87 small boxes, but she will be left with 8 beads that aren't in a box.

There you go! I really hope this helped, if there's anything just let me know! :)
