How do you complete this?
x - 1/2= 1 1/4

You are trying to get x by itself, so you add 1/2 to both sides of the equation.

x - 1/2 = 1 1/4

+ 1/2 + 1/2

That gives you x = 1 3/4 as your final answer.

You add the fraction 1/2 to the other side 1/2+11/4=13/4
