Answer:

Option B is the answer.

Explanation:

Let x be the amount of milk in 1 cup of mixture of milk and cream

So fat in milk = 2% of x = 0.02x

Now amount of cream in mixture = ( 1 - x )

and fat in cream = 18% of (1-x)

= 0.18(1-x)

We know total for in mixture = 6% or 0.06

so equation for fat in mixture will be

0.02x = 0.18 (1-x) = 0.06

0.02x = 0.18 - 0.18x = 0.06

-0.16x = 0.06 - 0.18

0.16x = 0.12

x =
(0.12)/(0.16)=(3)/(4)

Amount of milk in the mixture =
(3)/(4) cup

and amount of cream in the mixture = 1 -
(3)/(4)

=
(1)/(4) cup

Option B is the answer.
