☆ ☆ ☆ Role of osmosis in cell ☆ ☆ ☆

● Osmosis is the diffusion of water across a selectively permeable membrane.

●The direction of osmosis is a function of difference in total solute concentration, regardless of types of solute molecules.

●Water moves down its own concentration gradient, which means from a hypotonic solution to a hypertonic solution.

Answer: In all living organisms, nutrients and minerals make their way to the cells because of osmosis. This obviously is essential to the survival of a cell. Cells get rid of their waste by osmosis. Additionally, osmosis is largely important to plants because the root cells absorb water by this process.
