How would you classically condition an adventuresome 2-year-old to be more fearful of running across a busy street near her house?

Be sure to identify the uncoditioned stimulus, neutral stimulus, conditioned stimulus, unconditioned response, and conditioned response.

In order to achieve the objective of making a 2-year-old more fearful of crossing the street:

  • Unconditioned Stimulus: The car sign on the road cross.
  • Neutral Stimulus: The sound of the car motor, which gets louder as the car comes closer.
  • Conditioned Stimulus: The car's horn.
  • Unconditioned Response: The boy immediately stops once he hears the car´s horn.
  • Conditioned Response: The boy looks to the road at the moment he sees the car sign at the road's cross.
