Points given: (8,3) (-2,7)

Slope intercept form: y = mx + b

Slope formula: y2 - y1 / x2 - x1

Solve:

7 - 3 / -2 - 8

4/-10 —> -2/5

Plug in and solve for b:

3 = -2/5(8) + b

3 = -16/5 + b

+16/5 +16/5

———————-

31/5 = b

Answer: y = -2/5x + 31/5

Hope I helped!

\bf (\stackrel{x_1}{8}~,~\stackrel{y_1}{3})\qquad (\stackrel{x_2}{-2}~,~\stackrel{y_2}{7}) \\\\\\ slope = m\implies \cfrac{\stackrel{rise}{ y_2- y_1}}{\stackrel{run}{ x_2- x_1}}\implies \cfrac{7-3}{-2-8}\implies \cfrac{4}{-10}\implies -\cfrac{2}{5}
