What is the length of the hypotenuse. Show your work.

(The image is a right triangle with 3cm on one side and 4cm on the other.)

Hi there,

You just need to apply Pythagoras' theorem:

H² = 3²+ 4² = 9 + 16 = 26, so H² = 25, therefore H = √25 = 5 cm.

H - hypotenuse.

Green eyes.

by pythagoras theorem if a and b are sides of the right angle and c is the hypotenuse then
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
3^2 + 4^2 = c^2
9 + 16 = c^2
c^2 = 25
c = 5
