Plot Structure of Romeo and Juliet (Freytag's Pyramid)
Exposition: Romeo is interested in Rosaline, but Mercutio mocks Romeo because Rosaline has no interest in marriage. Romeo meets Juliet and completely forgets about Rosaline.
Rising Action: The Capulet house and Montegue house do not get along, therefore Romeo and Juliet plan to secretly marry.
Climax: Tybalt kills Mercutio, and Romeo kills Tybalt. The Prince banishes Romeo from Verona.
Falling Action: Paris is to marry Juliet, but the Capulets are unaware of Juliet's secret marriage. Juliet fakes her death with the potion the Friar gives her.
Denouement: Romeo is informed of Juliet's death, and drinks the poison provided by the Apothecary. Juliet wakes up and commits suicide with the dagger. Both familied end their feud after the tragedy.
