Marco and Suzi each multiplied 0.721 x 100 (it’s actually 10 to the second power but i don’t think they have anything like that on the keyboard so i wrote 100). Marco got 7.21 for his product. Suzi got 72.1 for her product. Which student multiplied correctly? How do you know?

Answer:

Suzi did

Explanation:

Yes they do have 10^2 power on your calculator.

Look for the ^ key or Exp or y^x or x^y. Most scientific calculators have one of those.

Suzi did it correctly. 0.721 * 100 is a decimal move two places to the right. That would bring the decimal between the 2 and the 1.
