Question:

Solve for x

Solution:

Subtract 10 from both sides.

3x^2 + 13x − 10 = 10 − 10

3x^2 + 13x − 10 = 0

Factor left side of equation.

(3x − 2) (x + 5) = 0

Set factors equal to 0.

3x − 2 = 0 or x + 5 = 0

Answer:

x = 2/3 or x = −5
