One theme in this story is that the simple things in life are most important. The boy is most content after being fed and being able to drift off to sleep looking at the night sky and the sea. He has nothing, yet everything at the same time.

Create one original post that

Explains what conclusions you can draw about the theme: what might the author be saying about accepting help?
Uses evidence from the story to support your analysis.
Create two response posts that

Respond respectfully and meaningfully to the original post of a classmate.
Compare and contrast your statement of theme with your peer's.
Compare and contrast the evidence you provided to support your theme with that which your peer provided.

I struggled with this one too, I'm actually just about to submit mine. I think the fact that the boy had intended to steal the food , but wouldn't accept from the sailor shows that his hunger overpowered his own thoughts and actions. the author may be saying its okay to accept help. I couldn't help but notice the questions you've asked on your profile are the same ones I've had these past few days in my courses , are you in k12 too? I find it helps to also look at other posts made by other people in the discussion board and get a simple idea of what can be put. I hope this helps, at least a little .
