Following the steps of a basic isosceles triangle it should state the bisector on both sides should equal 90

which means x= 90

so that way you can add 90 +47 to equal 137 and then subtract that from 180 giving you 43 which should equal Y

Triangle ABC is an isosceles triangle because it has two sides of equal length, AB = AC

Since it's an isosceles triangle so <B = <C but given <C = 47° so <B = 47°

Sum of all interior angles in triangle ABC = 180°

so <A + <B + C = 180°

Given : y° = <A / 2 so <A = 2y°

Substitute <A = 2y°, <B = 47° and <C = 47° to find y°

2y° + 47 + 47 = 180

Combine like terms

2y° + 94 = 180

Subtract 94 from both sides

2y° = 86

Divide both sides by 2

y° = 43°

In triangle ABD,

<BAD + <B + <D = 180

43 + 47 + x = 180

Combine like terms

90 + x = 180

Subtract 90 from both sides

x = 90°

Answer

x = 90°

y = 43°
