Atenolol is prescribed either solitary or with other medicines to treat hypertension and is also used in the treatment of chest pain and to better survival post heart attack.
However, certain precautions should be taken while using the drug as the drug may make one feel dizzy, so in that case consumption of alcohol or marijuana may make one feel dizzier. So, one should limit alcohol content, and should not use machinery, or drive, or do anything else that needs alertness, until and unless one can perform it safely.
Apart from that, there are some of the side effects associated with the application of the drug like lightheadedness, nausea, and tiredness. If any of these effects prevails or gets worse, then one should inform the physician as soon as possible. The drug may also minimize the flow of blood to the hands and feet, thus making them cold, and even smoking can adverse the side effects more.
Though allergic reactions are rare with the use of the drug, however, one should inform the doctor if one is exhibiting symptoms like rash, allergic reaction, severe dizziness, swelling, and trouble in breathing.
