There was a 16% reservation for the minority quota in the medical school in the University of California as a part of the university's affirmative action program. Allan Bakke, a Californian had applied twice to enrol to the program but got rejected twice, he filed a suit against the university. He accused the University that he was victim of reverse discrimination. He had credentials than the minority candidates but he got rejected twice because of his race. The supreme court made a verdict that the policy of the University was unconstitutional and asked the University to admit Bekke to the medical school.

The Bakke case happened because Allan Bakke, a 38-year-old civil engineer wanted to be admitted to the Faculty of Medicine at the University of California, but they rejected his request three times because he was white, his investigations verified that Black people entered with lower scores and were admitted by the university. He also confirmed that 16 out of 100 places were allocated to racial minorities

When Bakke was rejected for the third time, he sued the university in the state courts of the United States

the case was called as "(affirmative action)"

The superior court of the United States gave the reason to Allan Bakke with a vote of 5 to 4 ordering the university to enter it, this happened in 1978

I hope I can help you
