Let
c be the price of an ear of corn. So, six ears of corn cost
6c. We thus have

6c = 1.80

Divide both sides by 6 to get

c = (1.80)/(6) = 0.3

Answer:

The cost was $0.30 per ear of corn.

Explanation:

We assume that exist a linear relationship between the amount of ears of corn and the price.We also assume that it is a direct linear relationship. This means that a greater number of ears of corn imply a greater price. Now we can write this mathematically :

((6)EarsOfCorn)/((1.80)Dollars)=((1)EarOfCorn)/(x)

Solving in terms of x :

x=((1)EarOfCorn.(1.80)Dollars)/((6)EarsOfCorn)=0.3Dollars

Therefore, the cost per ear of corn is $0.30
