The parallel lines have the same slope.

Calculate the slope:

m=(\Delta y)/(\Delta x)

Look at the picture. Substitute:

m=(-2)/(-1)=2

We have the point (0, -1).

The point-slope formula:

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

Substitute:

y-(-1)=2(x-0)\\\\y+1=2(x-0)
