Ezra Stiles was a future president of Yale College who was serving as a pastor in Newport when he wrote about the American Revolution.
In his writings, he expressed that he was sympathetic to the cause, and that America was laying the foundations of an empire based on prudence, wisdom, counsel, and greatness.
Additionally, he expressed that he was against the resolutions of Parliament, and that instead of them being intimidating, he found the decisions to be invigorating and strengthening. They acted as fuel to the flame in the resolution of Americans.
